By the river
Sunday was a nice day so went for a short walk to the river Danube and in a local park Pomle.

The wind was blowing

…but we were looking for relax… and something to bring the autumn into our home…

It was good we decided to go at noon because then the bad weather begun to gather its forces:

The pictures were taken with my mobile thus the quality…

Autumn leaves

If you have ever listened to jazz you must know this song. Every jazz band worth something plays it although it;s not easy to play it right.

What you might know is the origin of this song.

The original was written by Joseph Kosma and Jacques Prévert in 1945 actually in French and actually under the name “Les feuilles mortes” (Dead Leaves) later translated into English by Johnny Mercer.

In 1955, Roger Williams hit the charts scoring a number one hit by the instrumental version - which is terrible and maximally annoying in my opinion.

Check a few versions!

By Keit Jarret:

or by new talent Zack Kim on two guitars:

or by Stan Getz, my favourite saxophonist:

etc, etc, the fascination never ends.

Unquestionably this is one of the most “used” jazz tunes and I hope we will hear a lot of great versions ;)
