Throw stones on me
Thursday, April 10th, 2008I’ve been thinking about and reading lots of stuff on religious theories. Most atheists claim their points true by putting rationality over superstition - which might be true.
MAnkind always needed something he can’t understand, something that may not be touched, in other words something special. Until recently people lived mostly in oppression (whether cultural, social or simply religional) so it is quite simple they were religious, they simply had no second choice. The society put everything in high contrast - you’re not a believer? Traitor! Burn him! Between common people it was quite easy to be religious as they just did not have another choice, they were raised like that. It was impossible to be an atheist because religion was the part of their everyday life.
Who was (and is) a Christian is a good person. The fact, that mass murderers, serial killers, pedophiles and other worms were Christian, believers and ‘good persons’ as well - somehow escapes their senses. On the other hand, anybody, may he give food and help to people in need, never cause any trouble, be a good parent, respect the rules of the society is NOT A BELIEVER, all his good deeds are cancelled at once and in some cases (and countries!) he may get in big troubles. Not officially, of course, he just gets ridden of somehow. Just like when a gay person applies for a job and in the sametime another non-gay applies, the second one gets the job immediately, not because he’s not a gay, of course, he just won the contest.
I have always thought, judging from my own experiences, that religion is for people unable to solve their issues by themselves, in their minds. I am truly not saying anything obscene, not degrading religious people, not saying they ar dumb or something, I just say that a person having confidence in himself and being fully sane is able to solve all the trouble in the world. Unfortunately not all of us are like this and there’s the ‘boogeyman’ of the Christian society, the threat of being expelled of the ordinary.
Church is something like communism. If it worked how it’s meant to be it would be fine; but unfortunately there are people living in this world, and they spoil all theories.
What is Church for? It should be a kind of channel to talk to God (?yourself?). But why do we need a building for that? Why should we do it together? Doesn’t God see us everywhere?
Why should I celebrate the death of a man who lived 2000 years before? You should appreciate people while they are alive, make them feel you love them, that you respect them. I am sure giving a $20k marble tombstone, tons of flowers or, moreover, to give a whole religion won’t make that person happier. That is only to soothe YOUR soul. And finally I got to the point that makes religion stinky to me. Selfishness. Because this is what I believe to be behind all this. Ask yourself…
See the great perfomer-priests (ministers, etc…) in stadiums with all those dumb zombies babbling and shaking themselves while they are freed of ‘evil’… people leave all their money and properties to these charlatans…
See Vatican! They talk of simplicity while they live on the level of billionaires (being BTW also ‘good Christians’)…
See yourself not going to church on Sunday. Ask yourself. You feel bad because you did not have the opportunity to talk to God or because of the look of your fellow believers at your ‘guilty’ person …??
See our history. All wars began because of religion - so how can be such a thing good?
There are good people and bad people and this is not connected to religion anyhow. I don’t believe in God and I am not a bad person. If you think I am a bad person because I don’t believe in God - so be it. An atheist is not a bad man - he’s just not a sheep in God’s herd.
Here are a few funny (but mostly true!) quotes, check them:
